Cheesy Cracker Snacks

Updated: Mar 29

I find crackers of any kind super addictive! The saltiness and often accompanied with cheese - yum!! But we all know how we feel when we eat crackers as well as crackers with cheese. Many companies out there which are house hold staples have a ton of additives in them and are high in super irritating ingredients. Which means your snack can leave you feeling bloated, tired, sluggish, breakouts, etc.

No bueno!

So today's recipe is here to save your gut and let you indulge in a "cheesy" treat. We will be using nutritional yeast instead of actual cheese and that will give you that flavour. It is also high in B vitamins (especially important for vegans to prevent B12 deficiency), protein, high in antioxidants and helps your immune system.

These are also great for your kids to snack on - no need to feed them artificially coloured treats that can potentially lead to health issues.

If you are new to chickpea flour, it is easily available now days and is a great substitute for traditional flour. It will also provide you with lots of fibre to keep your gut happy!

  • Preheat the oven to 350

  • Combine all ingredients except for the water and mix well until fully incorporated

  • Slowly add the water, while continuously stirring. You may need a little more, but add this 1 tbsp at a time until you have a coherent dough

  • Place dough on a chickpea flour dusted surface and place a piece of parchment paper on top to make rolling out the dough easier

  • You can cut the dough into squares or if you are making them for a toddler, use a small cookie cutter to cut into your desired shape

  • Place on a parchment paper lined tray and baked for 10 to 15 minutes until golden brown

  • Enjoy!
