As you know we are alllllll about your gut here at Shey Wellness. That is my priority when it comes to your health. It all starts here. Acne? Gut issues. Allergies? Gut issues. Weight gain? You guessed it - Gut issues!
I'm a huge fan of bone broths, but this is not for everyone and once in a while even I like to switch it up and enjoy this gut-healing vegetable broth.
It is made up of your basic vegetables and herbs, but honestly you can throw just about anything in here! I often add eggshells to my broths, but that is totally up to you. This is a general guideline, so if you have different or extra vegetables, go ahead and throw them in!
I like to have a cup of broth a day and I often recommend this to my clients as well. If you have leaky gut or if you just want to continue to nourish your gut - this is such a simple and great addition to your diet. I heat mine up and drink it out of a tea mug 😋
Sometimes I like to add some extras like:
Try this out and tag me @sheywellness - I want to see what types of vegetable creations you end up coming up with!
One medium yellow onion, roughly chopped
5 cloves of garlic, grated or cut in half
1 inch knob of ginger, roughly chopped
1 tbsp ground tumeric
1 cup of greens, like kale, spinach or collard greens
1 stalk of leeks, washed and roughly chopped
1 cup fresh mushrooms, I like shiitake, roughly chopped
2 large carrots, roughly chopped
2 celery stalks, roughly chopped
1/4 cup dried wakame or kelp seaweed
1 bunch of your choice of herbs, cilantro, parsley or thyme
1 tbsp of coconut or olive oil
Enough water to cover everything
Add all ingredients into a crock pot and set to low for 4 to 6 hours
Strain the liquid
Let cool completely before storing
